Comments

When visitors leave comments, we collect the data entered into the comment form, the visitor’s IP address, and the browser user agent string to help detect spam. An anonymized string (hash) of your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service. After approval, your profile picture is visible with your comment.

Media

If you upload images, avoid embedding location data (EXIF GPS), as others can extract this data.

Cookies

  • Leaving a comment may save your name, email, and website in cookies for one year.
  • A temporary cookie is set when visiting the login page to test browser compatibility.
  • Login cookies last 2 days (or 2 weeks with “Remember Me”); screen preference cookies last 1 year.
  • Editing or publishing content sets a cookie that expires in 1 day and stores no personal data.

Embedded Content

Articles may include embedded content (videos, charts, etc.). These behave as if the visitor accessed the source site, which may collect data, use cookies, or track your interaction.

Newsletter Subscriptions

If you subscribe via Beehiiv, we collect your name and email. This is used only for sending updates and promotional content related to Procure Nerds. You may unsubscribe at any time.

If you purchase a product or submit a form, we collect your name, email, billing address, and payment information. Payments are securely processed via Stripe, Gumroad, or WooCommerce. We do not store full credit card numbers.

We do not sell your data. We share only with third-party providers necessary for site functionality:

  • Beehiiv – for newsletters
  • Stripe, Gumroad, WooCommerce – for secure payments
  • Gravatar – for profile pictures in comments
  • Akismet / spam filters – for comment spam protection

If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the reset email.

4. How Long We Retain Your Data

  • Comments and metadata are retained indefinitely.
  • Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe.
  • User account data is stored until deleted (usernames cannot be changed).
  • Purchase records are retained for tax and legal compliance.
